About Our Puppies
With our Breeding Programme, we are very passionate about working with other like-minded breeders to produce balanced, sound and typey dogs that are full of quality. When planning matings, we also look at the longevity in the lines behind them, along with the health and temperaments; All of this is our main goal and it gives us a great sense of pleasure and pride hearing from our puppy owners about how much they are enjoying their dogs and how beautiful they are. Of course, with the Bernese this is not such a simple task and a lot of work is still to be done to gradually, try and continue improving the health of the breed overall. The Norfolk Terriers are thankfully quite a healthy breed generally, with no KC required health tests.
All of our litters are carefully planned, with hours spent pouring through the pedigrees, analysing the longevity, health, type and soundness. However, it is not only the pedigree that needs to match, the stud dog actually has to suit the bitch. On top of this, it is our belief that the combination of the Grandparents to the litter is vitally important as their genetic combinations are brought to the forefront, through their progeny. Conformation and soundness is one of the things that is of the upmost importance to us as this is absolutely essential for pets to be healthy and enjoy their long walks as adults without causing problems. This is why it is important to contact people who show their dogs and believe in conformation, rather than just contacting a back yard breeder with no knowledge or interest in this.

Upbringing
All of our puppies are brought up in the house, along with all of our dogs; as they are first and foremost, much loved pets. Given that the nutrition and environment not only affects an individual, but also their descendants - the mother is fed and looked after very well, prior to, during and after pregnancy. All of our dogs are fed a high quality, premium food. We do not believe in cutting corners.
Our puppies undergo Early Neurological Stimulation, which can help to improve tolerance to stress and give a greater resistance to disease. All of our babies are constantly handled from a young age and we also ensure that the mothers look after them very well. We make sure that our puppies are not only fed well, but undergo a lot of enrichment, noise desensitisation and socialisation from birth onwards; thus giving them the benefit of going to their new homes well-socialised, providing a solid foundation for their new owners to continue with. When we have puppies, we take leave from work, so that we are able to give them the time and attention needed to fulfil all of the above.
Following on from the care that we give, it is vitally important that puppy owners continue to carefully bring up their puppy, provide them with adequate nutrition and keep up with socialisation and training in order to grow a well-balanced dog.

We care very much about where our puppies go to live and receive a large number of puppy enquiries, which can be difficult to keep on top of; as a result, all prospective puppy owners are asked to fill in a "Puppy List Questionnaire." This gives us further insight into your requirements and expectations, but also your suitability for one of our puppies. Following this, we will provisionally put you on our puppy list. We like to speak to our prospective puppy owners over the phone closer to the time of availability and book people to come and meet us, the dogs and the puppies, when they are approximately 4-5 weeks old. It is important that we are compatible, given that you will be given life-long support with your Rodiveco Bernese or Norfolk Terrier.
On the whole we tend to allocate our puppies to each owner, so that we can ensure that the right puppy is going to the right family and that all puppies are suited to the right homes; this has always worked very well for us and means owners are just not picking puppies due to markings, or the puppy that has coincidentally sat close to them on their visit.
All of our puppies are sold as much-loved pets, as like other breeders, we cannot guarantee Show/Breeding Stock. Most of our puppies are sold within the UK and are fully endorsed by the Kennel Club with breeding restrictions placed and if you are planning to breed, then this must be discussed and agreed upon initially.

Advice and Support
Here at Rodiveco, we are more than happy to give people advice and are here to support the owners of their dogs throughout their lifetime. Gary is a qualified Veterinary Surgeon and has been in the breed for over 20 years, whilst Liam, having previously bred Newfoundlands is experienced in growing and caring for large breed dogs.
We also have a "Rodiveco Family" Facebook page for all the people that own our dogs - although please note this is a private group and only for our current owners - which means they have a safe space to ask for advice if needed and also share their loved pets with other members of the group.

Puppy Plans
We are currently not 100% decided on our Bernese plans for 2025 and are currently growing our youngsters from 2024. However, we do hopefully plan on having a Norfolk Terrier litter.
We are currently not adding to our Bernese puppy list until Spring/Summer this year, but will be taking enquiries for Norfolk Terrier Puppies.
